VOLUNTEER - USHERS - Fascinate Conference

IHOPKC conference Ushers lead and manage the conference attendees. Ushers lead by engaging with people in a friendly/hospitable/pastoral way, facilitating and maintaining order/safety, and by supporting the needs of IHOPKC leadership during the conference. It is our desire that everyone attending the conference are able to do these two things:

We want to allow unhindered first and second commandment love to go forth during our events. Our goal as an Usher team is to create and maintain a culture that promotes this dynamic. Leading and maintaining a culture of honor is about thinking about the whole of the people and how everyone affects everyone. It is the golden rule: “treat others as you desire to be treated.” The way that we will treat you as if you are simply attending our services or events is the way we mandate you to treat others you are serving. When you serve as an Usher you are not just a volunteer; you are commissioned to lead and love well.

Ushers will greet, seat, and engage with conference attendees. Ushers will answer common general questions attendees may have i.e. bathroom location, schedule times, what is the prayer room, etc. Ushers also collect the offering during the times offering is scheduled. In order to maintain and atmosphere of unhindered encounter with Jesus and others, Usher will respond to people who may be disruptive i.e. loud talking, disrespectful, or using personal musical instruments. Again, Ushers are the room pastoral leadership team.

- Must be 18 years or older (anyone younger will need to be approved by the Head Usher. For approval please email, headusher@ihopkc.org).

- Must be a people person. Basic and intermediate level “customer service care” along with common social skills and engagement is required. Ushering is a very important position at IHOPKC.

- Must commit to the time and days signed up for. Simply not showing up is not respectful or honoring.

Because we value who we are and what we do as an Usher team, if you are simply signing up to gain access into the conference and are not expecting to work and serve, volunteering as a IHOPKC conference Usher will not be for you. All volunteers are expected to serve. While you are serving with us and serving the needs of the people, there will be ample opportunities for you to receive from worship times and teaching times, but your first priority will be to make sure your area is taken care of first.

From much experience, you will not miss out if you take care of others first. You never have to worry about "stepping out” or “missing out” of worship to help others. All your work is worship and love unto the Lord. When you are worshipping and you need to serve the bride of Christ, you are honoring, loving, and engaging with Jesus. You will be blessed and you will not miss out. This is why we value who we are and what we do. We are “Friends of the Bridegroom” (John 3:29) is the most practical and pastoral way. When we are worshipping and loving Jesus, first commandment, and we need to serve another person, within our Usher responsibilities, we are still loving Jesus by engaging with the second commandment.
